What is Lower Blepharoplasty?
Lower blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address puffiness, bags, and excess skin under the eyes. This procedure targets the lower eyelids to provide a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
During lower blepharoplasty, a surgeon carefully removes or repositions fat, tightens muscles, and removes excess skin to create a smoother appearance. The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. This procedure is considered quite safe but it is not appropriate for everyone. The ideal candidate is healthy, doesn’t smoke, and does not have any serious eye conditions.
What to Expect
Cosmetic eye surgery helps to increase visual acuity and can erase a few years of aging. Lower blepharoplasty is one of the common surgical procedures you can find at Fier Eye Care & Surgery Center. As you age, the skin around the eyes becomes droopy on the upper and lower eyelids. This droopy skin can become so pronounced that it interferes with your visual acuity. When this occurs, it’s time to seek medical assistance.
Our trained eye doctor is with you through every step of the surgery. After the surgery, the eye doctor will recommend a cold compress followed by a warm compress to help reduce the swelling for the first few days. Various ointments or eye drops may also be needed after the surgery. Certain strenuous activities should be avoided after the surgery, the doctor will review what is appropriate during the recovery process. We are here to address any issues that arise during the recovery process.
